True Equality - Feminist protest song from "1972" the Musical
08.04.2012, 15:14
Janice sings "True Equality" while she and Marnie are studying Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton for their Feminism class in "1972" the Musical. Victoria Farwell, Soprano. Russell Nollen, Guitar. Music and lyrics by Clark Ford.

Lyrics: What if women had true equality? Would there be war and conflict, hunger, poverty? What if women had true equality? Would there be domestic violence in the family? How did we become without a voice, ho long have men had their way? What can we do to reverse our fate, it's never too late! Why don't women have true equality? We let men dominate us throughout history. Why don't women have true equality? We let men make decisions for society. We have rights as human beings, we're no longer property. We are capable of being any thing we want to be. We, who are women have beauty in our souls, deep down in side we know. We draw on strength that is intangible, we can defeat any foe. How can women gain true equality? We must fight discrimination and bigotry. How can women gain true equality? We must believe that we deserve to be free.
